Pakistan's match-winning leg-spinner Yasir Shah has shot to the top of the International Cricket Council Test rankings - at the expense of England's James Anderson.

Yasir's 10-wicket haul in the first Investec Test at Lord's was the man-of-the-match performance in Pakistan's shock 75-run win.

It has also earned him a rise from number four to the top of the ICC bowlers' rankings, knocking Anderson off his perch and also going above England's Stuart Broad.

Yasir is the first Pakistani to top the table since his fellow leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed did so 20 years ago.

England's all-time leading wicket-taker Anderson reached number one for the first time after his brilliant series against Sri Lanka this summer.

But he was controversially left out of England's squad for the first Test versus Pakistan, as the selectors played safe with his recovery from a shoulder injury, and is down to third in the global rankings.

Anderson is expected to be back in the squad - set to be announced on Monday - for the second Test, on his home ground at Old Trafford this week.

In his absence, Chris Woakes' breakthrough performance for a match haul of 11 for 102 at Lord's has seen him move up 28 places to number 36.
