A Scottish charity which supports destitute children in India is inviting people to attend its annual firework displays.

Scottish Love in Action (SLA) will host its Fireworks Extravaganzas event in Edinburgh, with entertainment from George Watson's College Pipes and Drums and the Edinburgh Academy Pipe Band.

There will also be performances by The Delighters Fire Circus Theatre and the Rock Choir, as well as stalls selling hot food and drinks.

Proceeds will help SLA fund projects in the state of Andhra Pradesh in south-east India. The charity provides funding to a grassroots non-governmental organisation which runs a home and school for more than 500 children in the city of Tuni.

Gillie Davidson, founder and chair of SLA, said: "Some of the destitute children we care for have only managed to survive by scavenging in rubbish tips, or begging in the streets where they are open to exploitation.

"The money we raise from events like the Fireworks Extravaganza gives these children an education and thus a chance in life and we'd like to thank everyone for this support."

The fireworks displays will take place at George Watson's College Rugby Ground on November 2. The first display begins at 4.30pm and the second at 7pm.

Tickets cost £26 for a family of two adults and two children aged two to 18. Single tickets cost £7.50 and entry is free for children under two.
