The recent killings in Gaza have again helped to bring to the surface a level of prejudice towards Jews.

What is quite apparent is that there is a section of Jewish people who are equally disgusted with the actions of Israel.

Regardless, of this, sadly some Muslims do tend to become more anti-Jewish during these testing times.

Some people may not like this to be stated so bluntly but let us face the facts.

Ramadan or no Ramadan the evening discussions centre upon conspiracy theories about how Jewish people are controlling the British media and are intent on burying the war crimes of Israel.

Britain and the Western powers continue to follow the orders of an elite bunch of Jews…and so the claims go.

The problem is, this feeds upon that anti-Jewish propaganda and helps to create more stereotypes in young people’s minds.

Blatantly racist comments about Jews are washed under the carpet because Israel is killing women and children.

To be anti-Israel does not mean one must be anti-Jewish. We have found it difficult at times to differentiate this.

Yes, there are a number of Muslims who will continue to make this distinction whenever they are faced with an ignorant personality. But there are also those will not.

Social media is awash with pictures of Jewish people demonstrating against the Gaza bombings in numbers. These pictures are shared by Muslim organisations but in many respects the message doesn’t seem to get across to some people.

In the middle of another brutal Israeli offensive against the Palestinians, it is almost impossible to state anything else than the common theme.

Ramadan has only heightened religious emotions. Some Muslims feel we should be forgiven for being able to be racist because Israel is killing people in such great numbers.

It isn’t right though is it? You can’t expect one rule for yourself and then another for everyone else.

The crimes may be the most deplorable and the silence from sections of the media and politicians may be quite shameful but it is always important to maintain a certain level of respect.

Anti-Jewish feelings are equally disgusting as those who hold anti-Muslim feelings.

Time to deal with it.
