The best thing ever is when you find a good little place to eat in a town centre.

Back in the day, some of us had real issues finding a halal eatery that did something a little different.

The Zakros, Greek Cuisine and Thai Noodles Bar is based in Blackburn Market and comes complete with Halal Monitoring Committee (HMC) Certification.

They have a range of freshly prepared kebabs and pasta dishes. Authentic Greek Cuisine with a slight Asian twist is the best to describe this place.

Now, normally when you do find a halal place in any town centre it is a bit of a disappointment. I have gotten used to wandering aimlessly around Blackburn, Bolton and Preston and having to fork out a fiver on a Fillet at McDonalds.

The big problem we have is finding a great spot to eat where the food tastes as well as if not better than the takeaway haunts we are used too.

I spotted this eatery a while back and after several visits now I can’t complain. The food is prepared quickly and service is always with a smile.

I like how everything is freshly prepared with authentic ingredients.

It isn’t too pricey either. For £4 you get a freshly prepared kebab with fresh salad. I have tried the pasta, which is also priced around the £4 mark, twice.

On one occasion it was quite busy but I didn’t notice too much and the food still arrived promptly enough.

On the downside it is only open during the day when the market is open. So, unless you work in and around the town centre or are sauntering through the market on Saturday you are unlikely to visit it. Which I think is a shame.

Meanwhile, the market has a number of good food stalls and it has certainly helped bring up the standard of cuisine in the town centre.
